Am I a Good Candidate for Empowerment Coaching?

Am I a Good Candidate for Empowerment Coaching?

Aimee Solis, LPC, LCPC, LMHC

Coaching is a great tool for when you would like to have more support structure and accountability in your life! It can be used in conjunction with therapy or a standalone service and can help you with achieving certain goals that you have for yourself. Great candidates for coaching are:

  • Those who are not experiencing mental health symptoms or insignificant symptoms,
  • Or those who are not interested in focusing on processing their emotions,
  • Or those who have little to no history of trauma or who have processed their trauma,
  • AND those who have goals and are focused on their goals, motivated to overcome barriers.

Some examples of coaching goals that our clients at Mindful Springs have had include:

  • Improving intimacy
  • Responding differently in conflict
  • Improving parenting skills
  • Achieving work and career related goals
  • Improving health and wellness through routine structure, nutrition movement self-care
  • And more

What Can I Expect From My Coaching Sessions?

A typical coaching session at Mindful Springs will include:

  • An opportunity to identify goals
  • Monitoring your progress at each session
  • Addressing and overcoming barriers
  • Setting new objectives for the weeks or the month ahead
  • Using Brainspotting to process and overcome blocks that are preventing you from reaching your goals and homework or a plan for moving forward

Coaching differs from therapy in that coaching is usually focused on a positive outcome that our clients want to achieve and will not include treatment for mental health disorders or symptoms. When mental health symptoms are present, often clients will use coaching in conjunction with therapy with one of our licensed therapists at Mindful Springs Counseling.
