Tim Blackburn

Tim (He/Him) seeks to provide a healing space for both old wounds and current challenges, while working with a compassionate view of the underlying pain and suffering which may be shared in both experiences as they emerge during a therapeutic hour.

Tim believes that by identifying and attending to the hidden dimensions of our lives—the untold stories behind our symptoms or dreams—we can begin to reveal the truths that lie within our most meaningful experiences. Through a collaborative effort to articulate these truths, unconscious modes of coping can be transformed. In doing so, we turn these aspects of ourselves into sources of greater autonomy, resilience, and thriving.

Tim (He/Him) is an LMHCA (Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate) supervised by Mare Cressman, LCSW and an MSC Level II Psychotherapist. He received his master’s degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute and completed his clinical training at an intensive outpatient clinic specializing in eating disorders. He uses a depth-oriented approach to therapy, drawing on psychodynamic perspectives. This approach helps clients explore both conscious and unconscious aspects of their minds, bringing awareness to their emotions and fostering a deeper understanding of themselves.

In addition to his specialization in treating issues related to disordered eating and body image, he also supports individuals with issues such as grief and loss, phase of life difficulties and transitions, struggles with perfectionism, difficulties overcoming a harsh inner critic, and seasonal mood challenges.

Tim focuses clinically on supporting teens and adults dealing with disordered eating, body image concerns, body dysmorphia, and shame. He has extensive experience treating mood disorders, including depression and anxiety. Tim works with clients of all genders, including women, men, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ individuals from diverse backgrounds, focusing on co-creating a therapeutic experience that fosters emotional connection to oneself and others. His approach recognizes the isolating effects of disordered eating and body image struggles, guiding clients through feelings of disconnection, shame, guilt, and helplessness. Tim offers individual therapy both locally at Mindful Springs’ Seattle location and virtually to WA residents.

As a new resident of Seattle, WA, Tim enjoys admiring the abundant rain, walking around the many lakes, DJing for his cat, indulging in a long book and enjoying quality time with his partner.
