Mieszka Pittsley
Mieszka “MJ” Pittsley (she/her) is a Licensed Social Worker, US Army Veteran, and 2x Ironman triathlete. After witnessing numerous veterans struggling to navigate their new normal after traumatic or moral injury events, Mieszka left her government career to focus on helping people navigate their post-trauma world and help them build a new, stronger narrative to define themselves. Using combinations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), and Brainspotting, Mieszka takes a trauma- focused and client-centered approach and wants each client to feel safe to examine the existential questions that arise after traumatic or moral injury events. Mieszka works with teenage and adult patients who are seeking to understand their trauma response and develop a collaborative approach to reach client-defined goals.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder,
Mieszka served in the US Army for 5 years then spent an additional 3 years as an Intelligence contractor at the US Embassy in Baghdad. Mieszka continued her career as a program analyst and found she was unfulfilled with her sterile desk job and sought to leverage her experience to help people who had experienced difficult life events. Mieszka enrolled in the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work and her internships at the 988-crisis line and at the Veteran Affairs hospital in Aurora, CO invigorated her passion for helping people in crisis find peace after trauma. Additionally, as an Ironman triathlete, Mieszka understands the mental challenges and anxiety of sports performance and the mental resilience required for endurance sports.
Mieszka earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health, and she is currently enrolled in the Integrative Psychology Institute’s Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider course which will certify her to practice psilocybin-facilitated psychotherapy under the Colorado Natural Medicine Act in Winter 2025. Mieszka is a MSC Level II Psychotherapist supervised by Amanda Baker, LCSW and is trained in Brainspotting and Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy.
Mieszka and her husband are both endurance athletes and they spend their free time training for endurance races. She has an unending love for donuts and ice cream and needs to continue training to balance her insatiable appetite for cake.
