Summer Hiett

Summer Hiett is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care within a compassionate and collaborative environment. With more than a decade of experience across maternal-child health, community and public health nursing, education, and psychiatric care, she understands that mental health is shaped by many interconnected parts of a person’s life.

Summer provides psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for adolescents and adults navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, ADHD, OCD, substance use, sleep concerns, and other psychiatric conditions. She has a particular interest in perinatal and postpartum mental health and supports clients making complex decisions about psychiatric medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

As a Certified Lactation Counselor and Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, Summer brings an integrated understanding of mental health, reproductive wellness, attachment, and family life. Her goal is to help every client feel informed, respected, and actively involved in their treatment.

About quick hello from Summer

My path into psychiatric care began in maternal-child, community, and public health nursing. Over the years, I have supported individuals and families in hospitals, homes, classrooms, and community settings. Some of my most meaningful experiences involved working with first-time mothers as they navigated pregnancy, early parenthood, health concerns, and major changes in their lives.

These experiences taught me that mental health care works best when people feel genuinely heard, informed, and respected. Medication may be one part of treatment, but it should never feel like something being done to you. I want our work to feel collaborative, with space to talk openly about your experiences, concerns, values, and hopes for care.

My background in psychiatric nursing, education, lactation counseling, and parenting support allows me to consider the many parts of life that can influence emotional wellbeing. I approach each person with curiosity and compassion and work to create a space where questions are welcomed and decisions are made together.

Available on Fridays for in-person appointments at the Mindful Springs Main Office or virtually for clients throughout Colorado.
